When is Hajj 2017

"And declare among people the pilgrimage. They will come to you on foot, and on every camel coming from deep and every distant way." - 22:27

The annual pilgrimage and the largest mass gathering in the world - Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam that is once in a lifetime obligation on every adult and able Muslim who can afford the expenses.

Hajj is performed from the 8th to 12th date of Dhul- Hijja, the last month of Islamic year. Since the Islamic date calendar is based on lunar calendar which is based on the moon sightings, the timings of Hajj vary relating to Gregorian calendar that is based on astronomical estimates. Also, the new date of Islamic year starts after sunset, so the awareness for the Hajj dates to perform all the rituals in true manner is inevitable.

Each year, more than 2 million Muslims from 183 countries gather in Makkah to perform hajj. To prepare for this sacred journey, the anticipating pilgrims need to know the date for Hajj so that they can prepare well and gather resources.

For the year 2017, the estimated Gregorian date that will corresponds to the Hijri date of Hajj, as endorsed by the Fiqh Council of North America is between August 30 th and September 4 th by the Will of Allah.
