How to Perform Hajj

The religious journey to Makkah, Hajj is the highest form of worshipping that involves physical, financial, and spiritual actions. It purifies the pilgrim from sins just like a newborn. It is mandatory for a Muslim who is physically and financially stable and can easily bear its expenses. In Makkah, Muslims from all over the world assemble in a flamboyance of trust and unity by recreating the observation that the prophet Muhammad performed in his last pilgrimage.

How to perform Hajj - Follow Steps
7th ZIL-HAJJ

Hajj preparations should be completed at the 7th Zil-hajj.

  • Men should shave, comb their hair, cut nails, and remove unwanted body hair. Bath / Wadu with the wearing of Ihram, but doesn't apply scents. Men Ihram should be 2 pieces of clothes one should be around the waist and one covers the upper body.Wear simple flip flops that don't cover the top portion of the foot. Avoid covering your head. These simple clothes indicate the equality of all before God.
  • Women, as with men, should groom themselves, bath, avoid applying scents, etc. They should also avoid applying makeup or other cosmetics. Women don't have special clothes for Ihram, ordinary clothes should be used, provided that they are clean. Hair should be combed, nails should be cut, take bath before wearing Ihram. Women should wear ordinary clothes as Ihram and both should wear flip-flop slippers. Covering of head with a scarf is compulsory for women.
8th ZIL-HAJJ:
  • First wear your Ihram.
  • Offer 2 rakaat nafl prayer.
  • Make Tawaf-e-Kaaba, 7 rounds.
  • Pray 2 rakaat near Maqam-e-Ibrahim.
  • Drink Zam Zam water.
  • Do Sa'ey (run 7 times between Safa and Marwa in remembrance of Bibi Hajra R.A and recite talbiyah frequently.
  • Reach Mina at Zuhr and offer Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha there in Mina.
  • Stay in the Mina whole night.
  • Here first day of Hajj is completed.
9th ZIL-HAJJ:
  • Pray Fajr prayer in Mina and go to Arafat by zawal and say takbir tashriq frequently.
  • Offer Zuhar and Asr combined in Arafat.
  • Stay in Arafat till sunset and don't pray Maghrib here.
  • Move to Muzdalifah after sunset saying talbiyah.
  • In Muzdalifah offer Maghrib and Isha prayer.
  • Stay overnight in Muzdalifah and pick up 49 small pebbles from here.
  • Second day of Hajj is completed.
10th ZIL-HAJJ:
  • After praying Fajr in Muzdalifa, go to Mina.
  • Go to jamarah aqbah and stone the pillar by 7 pebbles one by one. Talbiyah is prohibited at that time.
  • There are 3 days designated for Qurbani, it can be done any time in these 3 days day or night, which we do in remembrance of Hazrat Ismail A.S. After Qurbani men should cut his whole head's hair, clip nails and female should cut about an inch of hairs, clip nails.
  • Remove Ihram and wear usual dress.
  • Go to Masjid-UL-Haram and perform Tawaf-e-Ifadha.
  • Pray 2 rakaat near Maqam-e-Ibrahim.
  • Drink Zam Zam water.
  • Go back to Mina and stay here overnight.
  • Third day of Hajj is completed here.
11th ZIL-HAJJ:
  • After Zuhr, go to all 3 Jamarats.
  • First, Jamrat-ul-Oolah, throw 7 pebbles.
  • Second, Jamarat-ul-Wusta, throw 7 pebbles.
  • Third, Jamarat-ul-Aqabah, throw 7 pebbles.
  • And must stay in Mina.
  • Fourth day of Hajj is completed.
12th ZIL-HAJJ:
  • After Zuhr, go to all 3 Jamarats.
  • First, Jamrat-ul-Oolah, throw 7 pebbles.
  • Second, Jamarat-ul-Wusta, throw 7 pebbles.
  • Third, Jamarat-ul-Aqabah, throw 7 pebbles.
  • Before sunset, either go to Makkah or stay in Mina.
  • Before leaving Makkah, must perform Tawaf Wida, is obligatory to perform which is nafil tawaf.
VISITING TO MADINAH:

To visit madinah, is not part of hajj, bt haji's also travelled for ziarat of places related to Muhammad (PBUH). Some of the places are,

  • Masjid-e-Qiblatayn.
  • Masjid-e-Quba.
  • Masjid-e-Juma.
  • Jannat-UL-Baqi.

Hajj is the jihad of women, children and old people as it was said by the Holy Prophet (PBUH). It removes our sins. And to perform hajj is the dream of every Muslim, but it is done when Allah calls his people.
